Fairfax, Virginia, November 13, 2015: On November 13th, 2015, Sevatec will serve as a Platinum Sponsor for the Fairfax Future’s Leadership Forum, “Building the 21st Century Workforce Skills: Supporting Digital Literacy” at The Boeing Company in Arlington, Virginia. This year’s Forum will explore how the effective integration of technology beginning from Pre-K through high school, higher education and the workplace will impact education and the way we do business.
“The opportunity to help sponsor a discussion among leaders on early childhood digital literacy and the importance of this effort to ensuring all our children are ready to succeed in school aligns perfectly with our “service to the community and nation” culture,” said Balan Ayyar, President and COO at Sevatec. “We are delivering great results to our ECLKC team and promoting community stewardship on this important challenge,” he continued. “Education is the key to unlocking a child’s potential, every young American deserves the opportunity to live to their potential.”
In 2015, Sevatec successfully transitioned the Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center (ECLKC) web-application hosting platform to a cloud-enabled environment for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Office of the Head Start (OHS). As a strategic Amazon Web Services (AWS) partner, Sevatec implemented an AWS cloud website hosting solution, which increased efficiency, lowered costs, and improved scalability. “Since the cloud migration, we’re exceeding uptime requirements and witnessing record ECLKC page response times for our broad user base,” said Adam Dahl, Project Manager at Sevatec.
The ECLKC is an information rich application that educates, connects, and provides resources that enhance the lives of Head Start and Early Head Start staff, parents, Federal staff, Technical Assistance (TA) providers, policymakers and the early childhood learning community. ECLKC receives more than two million unique visits per year and hosts more than 6,000 web pages that contain files such as video, webinars, and online lessons.
Approximately 150 business, government, nonprofit and academic leaders from across Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia are expected to attend this invitation-only event. Sevatec has a commitment to early childhood education through our program at HHS and through Board Membership of our President and COO on Fairfax Futures–the leading public/private non-profit on early childhood education in Northern Virginia.
