Sevatec Recognized for Third Consecutive Year with Corporate Philanthropy Award

Fairfax, VA – 5 December 2018 – For the third year in a row, Sevatec was honored by the Washington Business Journal with a Corporate Philanthropy Award in each of the categories of Financial Giving and Volunteer Hours. The award recognizes the Washington DC metro region’s most active and inspirational companies and nonprofits for making a difference in their communities through both financial and volunteer philanthropic work.

“We are deeply committed to making a difference by serving our community,” said Sonny Kakar, Founder and CEO of Sevatec. “Seva means ‘Inspired to Serve’ and remains the hallmark of our corporate culture. This recognition reflects the generosity and mindset of our entire team, from our mission-focused teams who support national security customers everyday, to our corporate support teams. A few years ago, we launched the SevaTruck Foundation, a fully-equipped mobile food truck that serves free hot meals to at-risk communities. To date, in partnership with many organizations and the generosity of volunteers, we have served more than 34,000 free meals in nearby communities across the national capital area.”

Established in 2015 by Kakar, the SevaTruck Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing hunger throughout the Washington DC metro area. In partnership with local area food banks, shelters, and nonprofit organizations, SevaTruck serves hot, nutritious meals at multiple locations several times each week, with plans to expand service with additional SevaTrucks across the Washington DC metro region. Sevatec promotes a culture of service and employees regularly volunteer with SevaTruck, working to prepare and serve meals to those in need at local children’s organizations, schools, homeless shelters, and veteran’s centers.
