Fairfax, Virginia, November 16, 2016: Sevatec is pleased to announce that the firm has been recognized as one of the top philanthropic corporations in the Washington D.C. area by the Washington Business Journal (WBJ). During the 2016 Corporate Philanthropy Awards, Sevatec will be recognized by WBJ for the organization’s outstanding service in both giving and volunteering within our community.
The primary focus of Sevatec’s philanthropic enterprise is eliminating hunger in the national capital area. A crucial aspect of this initiative is the partnership with SevaTruck.
Established in 2015 by Sevatec Founder and Chairman Sonny Kakar, SevaTruck represents the first food truck in the D.C. metro region that is exclusively dedicated to serving free meals in the community. Sevatec employees regularly volunteer with SevaTruck, working to prepare and serve meals to those in need at local children’s organizations, schools, homeless shelters, and veteran’s centers.
In addition to SevaTruck, Sevatec also partners with organizations such as DC Central Kitchen, a nonprofit developer of innovative social ventures that break the cycle of hunger and poverty, and Fairfax Futures, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and building support for quality early childhood education and school readiness in Fairfax County.
The Washington Business Journal Corporate Philanthropy Awards honor the region’s most active and inspirational companies and nonprofits who have made a difference in their communities through both financial and volunteer philanthropic work. The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 17th at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, DC.
